Monday Night Movies on Main:

John Rocklin and David Wolf presenting
"The Howlin' Wolf Story".

Monday Night Movies on Main ran from October 2004 to January 2005. A total of fourteen movies were shown including great films like "Das Boot", "Rashomon", "Colors of Paradise", "The Station Agent" and many more. Thanks to Jeryl and Bayard Denoie of Cafe Deja Vu, we were able to have a great venue and plenty of delicious desserts and coffee. The Movie Committee would like to thank all our loyal "movie nighters" who participated in this very successful event.

2004 Open Studio Tour:

During the weekend of August 27-29, 2004, the WCAA sponsored it's Second Annual Open Studio Tour. Artists recorded an average of 180 people visiting each studio over the three day tour. We are thrilled with the turn out and consider our annual event a huge success. For details on the tour, please view our '04 Studio Tour section or go to the September 2004 Newsletter.

Wayne Deer Games

"Wayne Deer Games Auction"

The Wayne Deer Games came to a close August 21st, 2004 at the Park and Shop Lot in downtown Honesdale. During a live auction, our 57 Wayne Deer were auctioned off, and won through silent bid and penny socials. Congratulations to Ellen Silberlicht and her committee. Our thanks goes to Bob Mermell for his talents as auctioneer. The WCAA raised over $7,500 just on the auction alone. Thanks to all who participated in bidding and all the volunteers. Photos of each deer can be found here.

Memorial Day Weekend 2004:

"Howard Becker Exhibit and our Members Party"

Hundreds of art appreciators viewed the two week long exhibit of the work of Howard Becker at the Central Park Gallery in Honesdale. Howard Becker was an artist who painted extensively in and around Honesdale until his death in 1995. An interesting feature remembered by many local residents was the fact that the building housing Central Park Gallery was the Artist's residence and studio until about 1980. Peter Becker, Howard's son, was the curator of this show and many thanks goes to him and his family for providing us with this special exhibit.

The WCAA Members Party was held June 6, 3-5 p.m. at the Central Park Gallery. Approximately 50 members came out to meet their fellow Arts Alliance members and view the last day of the Becker Exhibit. After all the work we are doing, we needed a party! Thanks to everyone that came out, we had a wonderful time.
