MONDAY NIGHT CINEMA Film: The Italian Job (1969) Date: Monday evening, May 19th Time: 8:15 p.m. Location: Cinema Six Honesdale The Italian Job was nominated for a golden globe for best English-language film and showcased the acting talents of Michael Caine as a slick, gentleman thief. The "Job" is a entertaining crime caper with loads of comedy and beautiful English “birds.” A donation of $5.00 for members and $7.00 for non-member is requested to help support the activities of the Arts Alliance. The film will be preceded by a short introduction and followed by a discussion among audience members. Cinema Six is located in the Route 6 Shopping Plaza in Honesdale. May 23rd, 2008: BENCHMARKS 10:30 am - 11:30 am
The unveiling of WCAA’s summer public art project “BENCHMARKS” is scheduled for Friday May 23rd, 2008. The meaning of the word "Benchmark is a standard of excellence and achievement" and when you see these fifty-two benches exquisitely decorated or designed by WCAA’s member artists you'll understand what we mean! The "Benchmarks" will be on display throughout Wayne County from Memorial weekend until the benefit art auction in mid-August. Pick up a Field Guide at the WCAA office or at any participating Benchmark sponsor and find your favorite seat in the sun.

MONDAY NIGHT CINEMA Film: A Clockwork Orange (1971) UK Date: Monday evening, May 26th Time: 8:15 p.m. Location: Cinema 6 Honesdale Description: The plot of A Clockwork Orange is set in the not-too-distant future, where a charming young sociopath named Alex, leads a nihilistic lifestyle of 'ultraviolence'. Alex, when arrested and jailed for murder, volunteers for an experimental brainwashing treatment to reform criminals in exchange for a shorter prison sentence. With one of the largest cult followings in cinema history, “A Clockwork Orange” continues to challenge audiences, while winning international film awards for best picture and best director: Stanley Kubrick. A donation of $5.00 for members and $7.00 for non-member is requested to help support the activities of the Wayne County Arts Alliance. Writer's Workshop: ---- May 31st @ 1:00 WCAA Office Short stories, novels, memoirs, children's books and mysteries are being created at the WCAA monthly writing circle. Whether a beginner or a seasoned writer, all are welcome to share their work. This creative group encourages, offers critique, and explores how to achieve a sense of balance in their writing. Story starters and writing exercises round out each session. What makes the workshop so exciting ... we are always learning something new from one another. Drop in and check us out - we're sure you'll leave with renewed energy to write, write, write!

Humanity's obsession with artificial intelligence and the desire to create life has back-fired. Winning several Oscars, Blade Runner is one of the rare films that transcend the definitions of Sci-Fi cinema. Date: June 5th, 2008 Time: 7:00 pm Place: Joan Hill's Studio Cost: $10 donation WCAA’s Life Drawing Class is all about art and figure drawing. We work to provide a wide variety of figure drawing opportunities and settings for area artists of all kinds and styles. Everyone is very welcome, from beginners to professional artists.
