Lisa Macchia-Ohliger currently works in mixed media collaged, watercolor works on paper. Her work explores the relationship between ones visual environment and emerging emotional memories. Pieces look not only at physical locations, but psychological and emotional spaces. Connecting paper fragments through collage, painting, drawing, and stitching have become her method for navigating through the terrain of memory and imagination. The handmade element of her work allows for beauty of imperfection. Using handmade paper, recycled materials, and thread brings the painting into a sculptural space between two and three dimensions.
Lisa Macchia-Ohliger has a background in Fine Arts from the University of Oneonta. She resides in Honesdale, Pennsylvania and works in her studio daily.
